Firefly, Babylon 5 and Dresden Files (media watching)

It’s been well over 100F today and yesterday and today I’ve spent the day at hulu.

I’ve been rewatching a lot of things. I’m up to episode four of Babylon 5, and amazed at how awkward most of the actors seemed the first couple episodes. They got it together though by the third. Well, most of them anyway.

I also checked in with the first episode of Firefly. MUCH better. You never know with pilots, but I would have said this has some place to go. Too bad it didn’t catch on with the network. It looks like it has promise (yes, I’ve seen the series before and know what happened). I’ve heard a lot about it recently for some reason, people mostly asking “if Asians settled half the galaxy, where are they?”

I’m going to go out on a limb with Firefly. They’re there. I saw them today. I’m also going to figure that since we’re dealing in the show with an underclass. I’m thinking that maybe a greater proportion of the elite are of Asian ancestry. Yes, I know Simon is among the elite and we see elite here and there through the series. I know I’m making excuses. I’m just musing. It’s an idea, anyway.

I also watched the first two episodes of the Dresden Files. Very good. I’m sorry I haven’t been watching it on regular tv. I’m impressed. I suspect it’s already been canceled, but if it hasn’t – go watch it. Heck of a lot better than Fringe or Dollhouse. At least in this person’s opinion. I’ll be watching the rest of the available episodes.

Oh, and I also tried watching the first episode of Legend of the Seeker. Cute lead character. His best feature is taking his clothes off. Too bad that’s not done all the time. I turned it off after about twenty minutes. I’ll probably try again – but it was too hot to sit through it today.

Good watching!
